Alaska Sea Grant is pleased to welcome a new administrative assistant to the program. Shelley Masten recently joined Alaska Sea Grant in our Anchorage office. Masten brings a background in program and office administration to her new role, assisting with purchasing, grant management, event support, and office management.

Alaska Sea Grant’s administrative structure as a partnership between the University of Alaska Fairbanks, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and others requires careful attention to fiscal management. As a conveyor of partners and conversations, Alaska Sea Grant also needs skilled support for facilitating meetings.

“As a new member of the University of Alaska and the Alaska Sea Grant team, I am eager to learn more about how we can support the coastal communities of Alaska,” said Masten.

“I have a profound appreciation for nature and wildlife, and particularly enjoy visits to the SeaLife Center in Seward, observing puffins, sea lions, and jellyfish,” she added. “The majestic creatures of our oceans inspire me and remind me of the importance of conservation and stewardship.”
