Wanted: seafood safety and fisheries workforce specialists
We invite enthusiastic and qualified individuals to apply to join our team at Alaska Sea Grant. We are hiring two new full-time term faculty (9 months guaranteed support) with the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program.

The Seafood Safety Specialist will serve Alaskan seafood and food producers in the areas of food preservation, sanitation, and safe manufacturing procedures, and will coordinate Alaska Sea Grant’s statewide seafood safety training curriculum and events including outreach, education, and extension services. This position will be based at the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center.
The Fisheries Workforce Specialist will coordinate statewide commercial fishing training and events. Based in Ketchikan or Cordova, this specialist will also conduct regional extension activities, including delivery of extension, education, and applied research in support of regional needs.
Alaska Sea Grant is one of 34 Sea Grant programs nationwide and is a partnership between NOAA and the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). Sea Grant has been serving Alaska for over 50 years by supporting healthy coastal resources, strong economies, and vibrant communities. We do this through research, education, and outreach involving Marine Advisory Program agents and specialists who live and work in coastal communities across Alaska.
