Call for Abstracts

2024 Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium

 

Online abstract submission is now open. Abstract submission deadline has been extended: March 25, 2024.

We invite federal, state and tribal resource managers, researchers, scientists, and educators to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentation at KAMSS 2024. Hosted by Alaska Sea Grant since 2011, KAMSS provides a unique platform for sharing research findings, fostering collaboration, and advancing understanding of Kodiak's marine environment. We also welcome research conducted by Kodiak scientists addressing other fisheries that significantly impact our commercial fishing community.

Topic Areas

Abstracts are welcome across a wide range of marine science topics relevant to Kodiak's coastal community. Potential themes include, but are not limited to:

  • Climate and Oceanography
  • Plankton, Invertebrates and Fish
  • Seabirds and Marine Mammals
  • Sustainable Fisheries Management
  • Human, Economic and Community Health
  • Community-Driven Research and Traditional Ecological Knowledge
  • Emerging Issues and Innovations
  • Education, Outreach and Engagement

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and clearly state the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the research. Please indicate your preference for oral or poster presentation. Submit abstracts through the online abstract submission form.

Please list authors as you wish them to appear in the abstract book and include: author names, full affiliation, city, state, country, email

    • April 23: Evening kick off with keynote presentation
    • April 24–25: Plenary talks from 8 am–4 pm
    • April 24: Evening poster session and reception
    • April 26: Workshops and field trips
