Join us in beautiful Sitka, Alaska, for the 2025 Mariculture Conference of Alaska. Sitka is located on Baranof Island in the Alexander Archipelago of Southeast Alaska.

The Mariculture Conference of Alaska is an opportunity to engage with members of the mariculture industry, hear from experts, and connect with farmers, processors, researchers, community leaders, and other professionals.

The goal of the conference is to support the continued development of mariculture in the state by reviewing accomplishments, addressing challenges, and exploring opportunities in research, innovation, education, and industry growth.

In addition to the conference, this event will host the annual meetings for members of the Alaska Mariculture Alliance (AMA) and Alaska Shellfish Growers Association (ASGA).

The conference will be held in Sitka, Alaska, February 18–20, 2025, at Harrigan Centennial Hall.

Registration

The registration fee for the Mariculture Conference of Alaska is $50. The other associated events have no registration fee. The fee is waived for students, event speakers, and current Alaskan farmers/processors by entering the registration code MCAK25 during registration.

Notice for event speakers, presenters and panelists: the event sessions on February 18–20, including your participation, may be recorded and shared online for those unable to attend.

Lodging

Make your reservation early!

A limited number of rooms are available at a discounted conference rate of $135 per night at the Sitka Westmark Hotel by calling the hotel at (907) 747-6241 and asking for the Mariculture Conference rate or the government rate.

A limited number of rooms are also available at a conference rate of $189 at the Sitka Aspen Hotel until January 16 by calling the hotel at (907) 747-3477 and asking for the Mariculture Conference room block.

Transportation

The Westmark Sitka and Sitka Aspen Suites provide airport transportation for guests on Alaska Airlines flights via a joint shuttle. Sitka does not have Uber, Lyft, or other rideshares. Local taxi companies options are Baranof Taxi at  (907) 738-4722 and Tidal Taxi at (907) 738-4722.

Most events will be held at locations within the walkable downtown area near the conference venue. Transportation can be arranged for those who request accessibility support by emailing sea.grant@alaska.edu at least five business days in advance.

Travel assistance

Travel support for conference speakers and participants is now closed. The deadline to register and request this support was December 15, 2024.

Event Schedule

February 18

  • Morning: Alaska Mariculture Alliance Annual  Meeting
  • Afternoon: Alaska Shellfish Growers Association Annual Meeting
  • Evening: Join the Alaska Mariculture Alliance for a special showcase of photography contest submissions at Harbor Mountain Brewing Company. After the photo reveal, head to Harrigan Centennial Hall for the conference tradeshow and poster session. Network with industry leaders experts, and professionals while enjoying oysters and seaweed products from across the state along with heavy appetizers. Transportation to and from Harrigan Centennial Hall is provided.

February 19

  • All day: Conference presentations and workshops
  • Evening: Conference reception—join us at Centennial Hall in the Auditorium and room 3, hosted by the Alaska Mariculture Cluster, Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation, and Alaska Sea Grant.

February 20

  • All day: Conference presentations
