Alaska Sea Grant’s Business of Fishing workshop is a one-day class offering commercial fishing business training in coastal communities around the state. It is designed for boat owners, permit holders and fishermen looking to upgrade their fishing operations and improve their financial management skills.

The workshop covers a range of topics in business and finance important for fishing operations, including tax strategy and organization, business and financial planning, and risk management.

Developed from the successful Alaska Young Fishermen’s Summit business training, the Business of Fishing workshop expands on that program and brings it directly to fishermen in their hometowns.

The workshop will be held in Ketchikan on March 29, at the UAS Ketchikan Maritime Center, Room 132. 

Advance registration is required, and lunch is provided. Each class is limited to 20 participants.
