Current and prospective aquatic farmers in Alaska have a valuable new resource to guide them through submitting, amending, renewing or transferring an aquatic farm application. NOAA Fisheries Alaska Region and Alaska Sea Grant have launched a web portal and printable guidance document to assist applicants through the aquatic farm leasing and permitting process in Alaska.

Released in time for the 2022 application cycle, the website and manual have been developed with input and oversight from state and federal permitting agencies, and provide not only step-by-step guidance through the permitting and renewal processes, but also information on choosing a farm site, resources for growers, and an overview of governance of aquaculture in Alaska.
