New program administrator joins Alaska Sea Grant

Julie Parshall is Alaska Sea Grant’s new program administrator, joining the management team and leading the business, administration and reporting aspects of our work. Julie is based at the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Troth Yeddha Campus. She will guide programmatic, policy and fiscal efforts.
Julie has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alaska Southeast. She has worked at the University of Alaska Fairbanks since 2005, and served as the associate director of financial aid in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management for the past 14 years. Last year, Julie was selected to serve as an inaugural Gilman Scholarship Advisor Ambassador by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program provides scholarships for low-income students to participate in study abroad, and Julie will continue to serve through fall 2023.
In addition to her work at UAF, Julie is an accomplished musician and plays the violin in the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra.
“As a former cannery worker from the Kenai Peninsula, I know how important Alaska Sea Grant’s work is to our coastal communities, “Julie said. “I look forward to contributing to this program and joining the Sea Grant network to work with colleagues in Sea Grant programs around the country.”
