Public comments sought for Tribal Consultation Handbook

NOAA is updating its existing policies and guidance documents for consultation with federally recognized Indian tribes and Alaska Native Corporations, and best practices for engaging and incorporating Traditional Ecological Knowledge in decision-making. Two documents, the NOAA Tribal Consultation Handbook 2021 and the Traditional Knowledge in Decision Making are posted online and open for comments. 

Alaska Native Corporations, Alaska Native persons, and other interested persons are invited to submit comments. Information can be found in the Federal Register Notice and on the NOAA OLIA Tribal Resources and Updates website. Written comments are due by January 24, 2022.

NOAA will host two national webinars to gather comments and answer questions from the public:
