SUMMARY:PADI Open Water Diver Course for Mariculturists
DESCRIPTION:9:00 am — 5:00 pm each day \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlaska Sea Grant is now accepting applications for a PADI Open Water Diver certification course designed for individuals working in or preparing to enter Alaska’s mariculture industry. \n\n\n\nBefore arriving in Kodiak\, participants will complete the required PADI online coursework independently. A link to the course materials will be provided upon acceptance. Participants must finish all online coursework before the in-person training begins. \n\n\n\nThe in-person portion of the course will include: \n\n\n\n\nConfined-water skill development in a pool\n\n\n\nProper use of scuba equipment\n\n\n\nDiving safety and emergency procedures\n\n\n\nOpen-water training dives in Kodiak\n\n\n\nPractical skills relevant to working safely in and around mariculture operations\n\n\n\n\nParticipants who successfully complete the online coursework\, confined-water sessions\, and required open-water dives will earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. \n\n\n\nSpace is limited\, and an application is required. Priority will be given to Alaska residents who are actively involved in mariculture or whose work would benefit from scuba certification. Applicants should be comfortable in the water and able to meet PADI’s medical and swimming requirements.  \n\n\n\nThe course fee is $200 per participant\, and all required diving equipment will be provided. SUMMARY:Seafood HACCP Segment 2 — September 2026
DESCRIPTION:Alaska Sea Grant offers Seafood HACCP Segment 2 practical training via online video conferencing\, conducted at the specified time with a live instructor. \n\n\n\nThe class will cover the principles of HACCP and provide the tools and training to create a seafood HACCP plan. Students will need to register for and complete the Segment 1 training online prior to September 18 through the National Seafood HACCP Alliance for Training and Education. The Segment 1 training has a separate registration and fee. \n\n\n\nYou can register here for your Segment 2 training using the button below\, prior to completing Segment 1\, just be sure to complete the Segment 1 training before September 18. \n\n\n\nThis course meets the requirement for HACCP Segment 2. Participants will attend this HACCP training live\, using online video conferencing to complete the practical training session. The training will be conducted September 18 from 9 am to 4 pm. \n\n\n\nAll seafood processors in Alaska are required to have an approved Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan. This class prepares the participant to develop this plan. \n\n\n\nClass size is limited to 20 participants. A basic HACCP certificate issued by the Association of Food and Drug Officials is awarded upon completion of the class. \n\n\n\nThis workshop is free for Kodiak Island Borough residents\, made possible with funding from the Kodiak Island Borough.
