SUMMARY:Kelp Farm Operations: Training of the Trainers
DESCRIPTION:This immersive Training of the Trainers workshop is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to educate others on starting an aquatic seaweed farm in Alaska. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn effective teaching techniques for sharing this information within their communities. \n\n\n\nPriority will be given to Alaska residents\, members of rural and Indigenous communities\, and active kelp farmers. Workshop expenses\, including travel and lodging\, will be covered for participants. \n\n\n\nParticipation is limited to eight people\, selected through an application review process. \n\n\n\nApplications closed January 29\, 2025.  \n\n\n\nFor questions\, contact Arron Jones. You’ll get practical guidance on permitting\, regulations\, equipment selection\, food safety\, business planning\, and creating value-added products. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will cover topics outlined in the guide Seaweed Handling and Processing: Guidelines for Alaska\, plus the latest science\, insights\, and best practices. Whether you’re new to the field or looking to expand your knowledge\, this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to move forward. \n\n\n\nSpace is limited\, with priority given to Alaskan residents\, members of rural communities\, and those active in the mariculture industry.  \n\n\n\nAdditional workshop expenses\, including travel and lodging\, will be covered with support from the Alaska Mariculture Cluster. \n\n\n\nApply online by April 4 (no cost to apply).
