SUMMARY:Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium 2014
DESCRIPTION:KAMSS 2014 brings results of state\, federal\, and academic studies back to the fishermen\, students\, and residents of Kodiak Island. Sponsored by the Alaska Sea Grant Marine Advisory Program\, KAMSS provides a forum for researchers to present findings of their studies to those interested in understanding how Kodiak’s marine environment and resources function\, change\, and affect their lives and livelihoods. Patterned after the first KAMSS\, KAMSS 2014 talks and posters span all dimensions of Kodiak’s marine science\, including physical oceanography\, habitat\, crabs and salmon\, kittiwakes and killer whales\, and historic to current human dimensions.

SUMMARY:Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium 2011
DESCRIPTION:The 2011 Kodiak Area Marine Science Symposium (KAMSS) presented selected results of decades of marine research conducted near Kodiak\, Alaska\, to fishermen\, students\, and residents of Kodiak Island. Talks ranged from oceanography to marine animals to human dimensions. During four days of presentations and workshops\, local people learned how Kodiak’s marine environment and resources function\, change\, and affect their lives and livelihoods.
