SUMMARY:Building community capacity in kelp mariculture site suitability assessments
DESCRIPTION:Alaska has vast untapped habitat ideal for seaweed mariculture. Determining the relative suitability of sites for cultivating kelp is a complex calculation involving many factors of varying importance\, including conflict over area use\, geophysical aspects\, and biological requirements for effective farming. \nJoin Alaska Sea Grant’s mariculture specialist for a 1-hour webinar about a soon-to-be-released Site Assessment Toolkit (SAT) that promises to help current and prospective seaweed farmers more easily evaluate potential sites around Alaska.
